16mm, huge lights, and reel to reel cutting is the purest form of film making. I think true art comes from hard work. Nowadays any kid with a camera phone thinks he’s a filmmaker.
Don’t get me wrong, I love YouTube and all that, but technology is killing the soul of the art. If you watch the movie Ben Hur you will hundreds of real people in one scene, no CGI.
The fact Disney won’t produce anymore non-computer generated animated films makes me sad.
Right now I’m playing around with a bulky camcorder from the early 80’s and I’m having more fun with it then the brand new Sony I got for my birthday. Also I’m saving up to buy an 8mm, because I want to fool around some old style stop motion.
